Prefetch is an offline news reader. It has no account, no server of its own, and no tracking.
Data on your iPhone, iPad or Mac
Sources you add, folders, downloaded articles, images, and settings (text size, appearance, download limits) stay on this device. They are not uploaded to Oskar Blakstad or to any Prefetch backend – there isn’t one.
Deleting the app deletes this data.
What happens when you tap Download
Prefetch fetches RSS/Atom feeds, article pages, and images from the websites you added. Those sites can see that a device requested their public pages (typically an IP address and a browser-like user agent), the same as opening them in Safari.
The app may keep cookies from those sites on the device only so later downloads of the same site can succeed. Prefetch does not use cookies to track you across apps or to advertise.
The reader shows a stored copy. It does not keep an open browsing session with the publisher.
What we do not collect
- No name, email, or account
- No ads, or tracking
- No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties for their marketing
Children
Prefetch does not collect personal data. It is a general news reader, not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
